[[ANT]] * Manual for BC-ANT-SERIAL [#y637d052] > ''[Caution]''~ This page explains the details of the discontinued model of BC-ANT-SERIAL. If you are looking for the technical information of the present ANT module, please look at [[this page>http://labs.beatcraft.com/en/index.php?ANT%2FBC-ANT-SERIAL_2]]. Thank you. ** 1. Overview [#s66e77af] > BC-ANT-SERIAL is an ANT wireless communication module. ANT is a low-power data wireless communication network protocol, which runs in 2.4GHz ISM band. ANT can handle form a simple peer-to-peer to a complex fixed mesh topologies. ANT provides hardware solutions for flexible and adaptive network operation and cross-talk immunity.~ This module has been certified by the Japanese regulatory agency and has received Technical Conformity. The label of the certification number is put on the module. It is illegal if you remove the label and put it on another device. Even though you remove and damage the label and use the device, it will be considered as illegal. If you modify the module, such as replacing to its antenna or changing its high frequency circuit, Technical Conformity is void.~ > &ref(DSCF7364.JPG,,25%); ** 2. How to Connect to its Host CPU [#o294ee89] > This module can communicate to a microcontroller for an embedded system or a PC with RS-232C of TTL (1.9 ~3.6V single-end) level. ***2.1 How to connect TTL (single-end) with a microcontroller [#jd191380] J2 terminal (20-pin) of this module is attached to a connecting cable. For the pin assignment at the terminal, please look at the table below. > |Item|Minimum|Standard|Maximum|Unit| |Power Supply Voltage (VDD)|1.9|3.0|3.6|V| |Input Voltage at H level|0.7 x VDD||VDD|V| |Input Voltage at L level|VSS (GND)||0.3 x VDD|V| |Output Voltage at H level|VDD – 0.3||VDD|V| |Output Voltage at L level|VSS (GND)||0.3|V| > J2 Pin Assignment |No|Type of Signal|No|Type of Signal| |1|RESET|2|GND| |3|BR2|4|GND| |5|SLEEP|6|GND| |7|BR1|8|GND| |9|BR3|10|GND| |11|SUSPEND|12|GND| |13|RXD|14|NC| |15|TXD|16|NC| |17|RTS|18|NC| |19|VDD|20|GND| > Serial Communication is specified as 8bit length, no parity, 16bit stopbit length, and hardware flow. The communication speed is determined by pin-assignments patterns of BR1, BR2, and BR3. Please look at the table below for the details. > |BR3|BR2|BR1|Communication Speed| |0|0|0|4800| |0|1|0|19200| |0|0|1|38400| |0|1|1|50000| |1|0|0|1200| |1|1|0|2400| |1|0|1|9600| |1|1|1|57600| [Caution]~ 19200bps or slower communication speeds is highly recommended. AT 57600bps, the internal chip may drop few command lines because it cannot keep up its processing speed with communication speed.~ > &ref(ANT1.jpg,,25%);~ &ref(DSCF7365.JPG,,25%);~ This is an example of a DIY connection cable.~ *** How to Use R232-C [#v606c45b] > To use R232-C interface, please attach jumper resistors at R18, R19, and R20 on the PCB. The size of jumper resistor is 1608. Please configure the pin assignments of J2 terminal~ &ref(ANT2.jpg,,25%);~ Table of J2 pin-assignment~ |No|Type of Signal|Using Jumper Resistor| |1-2|RESET|No| |3-4|BR2|Please look at the next table (table below)| |5-6|SLEEP|Yes| |7-8|BR1|Please look at the next table (table below)| |9-10|BR3|Please look at the next table (table below)| |11-12|SUSPEND|No| |13-14|RXD|No| |15-16|TXD|No| |17-18|RTS|No| |19-20|VDD|19:3.3V, 20:GND| > The 19th and 20th pins are attached to an external power supply. The voltage of the external power supply is 3.0 ~ 3.3V. The 19th pin is attached to the + electrode, and the 20th pin is connected with the – electrode.~ ~ > The serial communication is with 8bit length, no parity, 1but-stopbit length, and there is hardware flow. The communication speed is determined by whether each pin of BR1, BR2, and BR3 is attached with the jumper resistor or not. The relationship between the combinations of jumper resistors and speed of communication is shown below. |BR3 (9-10)|BR2 (3-4)|BR1 (7-8)|Speed| |Yes|Yes|Yes|4800| |Yes|No|Yes|19200| |Yes|Yes|No|38400| |Yes|No|No|50000| |No|Yes|Yes|1200| |No|No|Yes|2400| |No|Yes|No|9600| |No|No|No|57600| > [Caution]~ AT 57600bps, the internal chip cannot catch up with the speed of communication and may not process all commands. 19200bps or slower is highly recommended.~ > &ref(ANT1.jpg,,25%);~ To connect to a PC, RS-232C terminal (9 pin) and straight type cable should be used. ** 3.
